The new SPX 7800BT is the culmination of Cobra's over 30 years of experience in building quality, high-performance, detectors. The game changing SPX Series nearly doubles the detection range, and warning time, of previous models!

Cobra uses the latest technology, military grade components, and the best design practices in the world to pack this phenomenal performance into a sleek detector nearly half the size of other detectors in the market. Super-fast sweep circuitry provides extra detection range and the best possible advance warning to all radar/laser guns currently used in the United States and Canada, including POP Mode (Super-fast) Instant-on Radar guns. Color OLED Display provides clear indication of the signal being detected as well as current mode of the detector.

The SPX 7800BT is also compatible with the free Cobra iRadar App.  With the iRadar community, members enter into the next era of convenience and ease-of-use with significant enhancements to its mapping features.  On top of its award-winning, community-based threat sharing and detection capabilities, the new Cobra iRadar App Version 4.0 offers users powerful driver tools directly from within the iRadar app. A new rotating map combined with an automatic zoom feature based on vehicle speed allows iRadar to show more of the road ahead. This improves the driving experience by allowing users to see alert locations well before getting to them. In addition, users can now rotate, tilt and pan the map freely to view at any angle.

Users also benefit from additional mapping and simple navigation performance features.  The new Live Traffic Data Integration shows real-time traffic information directly on the map, allowing users to avoid congested areas. With the Get Directions feature users can enter an address and iRadar will plot the best route to the destination on the map. This simple navigation can be a supplement to, or even replacement for, running a separate navigation app. Coverage Map View allows users to see where iRadar alerts are concentrated and spot isolated alert locations on long stretches of road when zoomed out.

With 40,000 user-generated reports per day and nearly one million users, the iRadar Community is one of the largest and most active detection communities in the world, and is the ultimate tool for driver awareness and threat avoidance. Drivers receive access to its advanced real-time community threat sharing capabilities while receiving AURA® speed and red light camera notifications, verified user-reported alerts of upcoming live police locations and other real-time traffic threat information.

Cobra iRadar App Version 4.0 also includes music control, background alert notifications and distance countdown to alerts.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Without going into a long lengthy explanation I feel compelled to say this is a driving aid ! not I repeat not a total speeding ticket blocker. that goes for all detection systems out there high and low end. go to (youtube) and locate how to properly use a radar detector. you will find that if apply certain methods in relation to using your detector the odds of getting a ticket lessens. now with that said. I have been using cobra for over 20 years and I like their detectors their innovative and they get the job done with proper use. theirrrrr great. p.s. gave 4 stars due to the fact that there is no perfect detection system.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Picks Up Everything! When I have seen cruisers most of them are taking a nap. I did pick up one legitimate from a very good distance. On the other side, this picks up everything, maybe I have a bad unit and have contacted Cobra customer service. I pick up railroads when one is over five miles away. I pick up laser detection on a beach in the Outer Banks of NC and every car that has car detection (mainly every Audi on the road) it picks up. My drive to work in the morning is nothing but beeps for 45 minutes into Cleveland. This unit has some great features but lacks the ability to reduce false reports. While this is the powerhouse of thier latest models I had better luck with previous models and they were much quieter. For the price I would not recommend.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pretty Nifty Device! I decided that I needed a good radar detector since I moved from a Honda Civic Hybrid to a BMW 750LI. I always have my iPhone with me and it is on and plugged in, so the complaints I have seen elsewhere that this "needs to be connected to a phone to work well" are irrelevant. I specifically like the data sharing feature. I have only had it for 2 weeks so not enough time to get lots of radar hits. I don't see very much noise. I like the digital speed readout (linked to my phone GPS). The only complaint is that the manual doesn't specify the power plug specifications. I would like to purchase a spare cable so I'll have to measure it to find the right type.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from The Worst !! I've had numerous detectors, from high end to low end, and this one by far is the worst I've ever owned. Mounds of false alarms and the range is horrible. Plus side is I love the features and thats about it. To bad I spent 230.00 on a unit that should have been priced around 50.00 for the performance valve. So much for the saying, "you get what you pay for" And I've owned this unit now for at least 4 months.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from ignore the negative. reviews I purchases this radar with hesitation when I started using this at first there were quite a few false detetections but as I kept goin by the same area day after day the detector. Would detect once and stop as if it learned the area now it very seldom comes on in those areas, this detector has awesome range and gives you plenty time to slow down I recommend detector. Read the instructions. I believe that the people having problems did not read them

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Worst radar I have ever owned! I have owned several radars. I purchased this one because it was supposed to be the next best thing from Cobra. It would go off after I drove by a trooper. Or I would see the cop first and than the radar would go off. After two speeding tickets I have decided to get a different one. I still trust the Cobra brand. Just not this one. Don't waste your money on this.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Bees knees 10 out of 9! It certainly comes with its subtle quirks but hands down the funnest and most reliable experience I have had with any detector device. Took it on a 10 hour, round trip, drive for the first time and within no time, I found a cobra buddy! The user was 2 hours ahead leaving their mark and I was able to track and confirm their sightings. This product has inspired me with many ideas on how it can be improved. I look forward to seeing what future software updates reveal! 4 stars - if I have nav or traffic view on and switch apps I have to re enter the address it was taking me too and I have to re activate the traffic view. UI needs improvement, simplify icons, there is no need to have a bulky gradient / partial frame on a map for a phone.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from works well I have had my SPX 780 for one year. It does every thing the ads said it would. mounted to my rear-view mirror and hard wire to my car, It comes on when the car is running. Bluetooth connection to my Galaxy S5 was easy and fast. I have had detectors as far back as 1982 and all the top names. This one is by far the one best. The only thing is the documentation is a little week and you have to go to third parties retailer for mounting options. I use it all the time as an outside salesman.

I would like to find out if this product is compatible with a headset over Bluetooth device to use while wearing a motorcycle helmet, I need it to be audible while wearing a helmet equipped with a Bluetooth headset device for a motorcycle helmet

Asked by: anjin
Thank you for your interest in our products, we appreciate it. Please note, this unit can only be paired to Smartphones. However, most Smartphones are able to pair to more than one device simultaneously. Therefore, if your phone is paired to the Bluetooth system on your motorcycle, you will also get the radar alerts over the Bluetooth headset. I have the  EYESIGHT System in my 2015 Subaru Outback. The owners manual states not to put ANYTHING on the windshield as it would cause an incorrect reading of the EYESIGHT System. Do you know if this statement is true or false?

Asked by: SemperFi86
If the statement is in the owners manual, I would expect it to be true. However, I'd recommend contacting the manufacturer of the vehicle to confirm. Does this work for Argentina? I mean, a lot of cammeras nowadays don't emit any signal, and as I saw in the IRadar app there's absolutely no camera or radar reported for Argentina, so it's same as having nothing. Will this work for that kind of cameras?

Asked by: Facundo
Please note, radar detectors are receivers that operate anywhere in the world. However, if the cameras in Argentina do not emit any signal, there is no way to detect them. Following are the frequency bands for Cobra radar detectors. We recommend that you try to determine the frequencies in use in your country, to verify that they fall within our range of detection. X Band: 10.475 to 10.575 gigahertz Ku Band: 13.4 to 13.47 gigahertz K Band: 24.00 to 24.25 gigahertz Ka Band: 33.4 to 36.0 gigahertz Laser: 860 to 960 nanometers To see other frequently asked questions visit: https://www.cobra.com/support/faqs Should you have additional questions, please contact our Customer Care Group at 773 889 3087. Second part of the question: Why don't you add all radars reported by Argentinian's government? Here all radars are public (only the fixed ones), why you don't include and update regularly all those into the IRadar app? There's no radar in the app.

Asked by: Facundo
Please note, Radar signals come from the equipment used by speed enforcement officials, therefore must be detected by the radar detector itself, they cannot be built into the App. The App doesn't detect signals, it contains coordinates of Red Light Cameras, speed traps and dangerous locations throughout the U.S. and Canada. It uses the GPS signal on the mobile phone to alert when user is approaching the location of those coordinates. I have a 2007 Bentley GT with a UV coated windshield (purplish in the sunlight) with this detector work with my application OR what do you recommend I use I live in the DC, Md and VA area so I need the redlight and speed trap, speed camera warnings thanks

Asked by: Martin1962
Please note, it is my understanding the use of radar detectors is illegal in WA and VA. Radar signals, Red-Light Camera and Speed Traps should not be affected by the coating on the windshield, however laser signals will not reach the radar detector due to the coating on the glass. An alternate option is iradar model S120R mounts behind the front grill of the vehicle and uses the screen of a Smartphone as a user interface.
