This is a unique and exciting All-Terrain-Radio™ for your year round and multipurpose use!  This compact floating unit has the same great VHF radio ruggedness, quality and reliability Cobra is known for.  In addition, it has Cobra’s exclusive Rewind-Say-Again® feature & GMRS channel Dual-Band functionality.  Other features include a long lasting Lithium Ion Polymer battery, S.A.M.E. Weather Alert filtering and a rapid charger. 

This is a professional quality VHF radio but it is also a high power combination VHF/GMRS radio.  GMRS (General Mobile Radio Service) is the modern standard in consumer grade two-way communications.  It also includes all of the core features like; Noise-canceling microphone, NOAA weather radio, Weather Alert, JIS7/IPX7 rated submersible and BURP.

Max range in a city like setting say san francisco?

Please note, it is impossible to answer this question accurately. Range depends on terrain conditions as well as obstructions between the radios. Typical range in a city environment is close to 1 mile. Will this unit accept personal head set?

Thank you for your interest in our products. Please note, the above radio has a (water proofing) indentation on the speaker/mic jack. Your personal headset would have to fit all the way down into the jack to make full contact. Here is an option available from Cobra: https://www.cobra.com/products/marine/cm-330-001 The Speaker/mic jack configurations is as follows: Plug size: 2.5mm (3/32”) stereo plug Microphone Type: Electret − The tip is the speaker − The center contact is the microphone − The shaft is ground The PTT switch is wired in series with the microphone element. mr hh 450 can communicate with cb radio? they are on the same frequency ?

This model is fully compatible with all GMRS radios on channels 1 through 7 and 15 through 22. This radio features all GMRS channels and Marine Bands used in the U.S., Canada and International. To see a description of all the channel assignments, please refer to page 63 of the owner's manual at the following link; https://www.cobra.com/sites/default/files/manuals/MRHH450DUAL_MANL_ENG.pdf FRS-only (low power) channels 8 to 14 are not available on this unit.

I'm looking for a hand held radios that has the strength/range to have quality sound at about 3 to 4 miles... I live in a densely populated city.
