Why am I having trouble connecting the camera in Drive Smarter?
Attempt restarting the dash cam (wait 30 seconds before powering back on) and attempt connection again. In parallel, restart the Drive Smarter app and attempt to connect again.
NOTE: Please ensure you have Bluetooth enabled on your phone.
How do I connect my camera via Wi-Fi?
You do not need to manually establish a Wi-Fi connection to your dash cam. Drive Smarter uses Bluetooth to automatically manage connection types depending on which feature you are using within the app. Simply use the Drive Smarter app to access gallery view or live view.
How do I enable Parking Mode Protection?
For Parking Mode protection the camera needs to be hardwired to the vehicle’s battery using our hardwire kit in order to provide constant power to the dash cam (part numbers 0010070-01 for OBDII port or 0010073-01 for fuse box).
How do I view my camera’s feed remotely?
In order to use the Parking Live View feature the camera needs to be connected to the internet via in-vehicle WiFi, an in-car adapter, or another form of internet connection within range of the camera. Please connect your dash cam to your desired internet connection using the Drive Smarter app and the camera connect to it automatically in the future.
When the camera is on (being driven or has been turned on by detecting an incident during parking mode) the account holder can view the camera’s feed using the Drive Smarter app or by visiting Drivesmarter.com to use the web portal.

How do I get radar, speed camera, red-light camera alerts on my camera?
Simply connect your dash cam to the Drive Smarter app and our connected network of alerts will be pushed to the dash cam when a threat is nearby. The Drive Smarter app will connect to the dash cam automatically after first connection when Bluetooth is enabled. Ensure that Real-Time Driver Alerts setting is enabled on the dash cam.

"Faulty Product – Unreliable Brand This is the second dash cam I’ve purchased from Cobra, and both have failed. The first unit (SC 400D) lasted about a year before the display screen stopped working entirely. Customer support said they don’t repair units and suggested the issue might be an incompatible memory card—even though the card was purchased with the dash cam itself. I gave the brand another chance and bought the SC 250R. Within a week, the rear camera stopped displaying on the screen. I tried troubleshooting with no success and contacted technical support, but never received a response. Based on my experience, Cobra dash cams are unreliable. I do not recommend spending your hard-earned money on this brand."
"I purchased the 250-R in the winter of 2025. I also spent the extra $30 bucks for the direct wire OB II and all is good. The mounting adhesive was weak. I did have to buy a stronger Velcro to mount it. The front and rear cameras have worked fine. I just bought another new car and will be buying another 250-R."
"This dashcam won't record when you need it to. I bought this camera specifically to record 3 views simultaneously because it advertised it could. However, after a professional installation at Best Buy, this product fails to record the most important camera, the main frontal camera, when using an optional 3rd cam. I have tinkered with it to try to get it record all 3, but I can not get it to record more than 2 clips simultaneously, and the one that fails to record is the front camera, despite it being the most important and the camera that shows in a 3-view picture-in-picture layout. I have had this camera for months and I almost was in an accident today and when I went to pull the video, I realized it had been recording absolutely nothing on that frontal camera. See attached photos. DO NOT BUY this camera for 3-way recording at any price."
"This is a great camera front and back! The wiring is sufficient enough to wire it through a full size Ram 1500. The only draw back is the supplied power connector is only for the traditional 12V “cigarette lighter plug”. Why can’t it be USB-A or C for modern cars? The only 12V plug I have is on the dash, which makes it seem to stick out. Other than wiring it to the fuse block or battery there needs to be a modern USB power option."
"Spent almost $300 on this camera just for it to fall off of my windshield every time I come out of work in the summer. The mounting is horrible. Also tried gorilla 2 sided adhesive and it still falls and there is no other way to mount it. Very frustrating spending that much and not being able to use it."
