iOS and Android BILT App - Assembly Instructions
The latest firmware available for Road Scout is version R05 which includes the following changes: (Note that all changes in previous versions are included in the latest firmware version)
- -Road Scout now recognizes Micro SD Cards formatted in exFAT and NTFS file formats.
- -Road Scout will prompt to format a card using these formats.
- -Resolved issue involving video files that have been renamed.
Road Scout version R04 includes the following changes:
- -Improved audio volume levels
- -Resolved issue causing excessive laser alerts
- -Reduced microphone gain

Do I need a professional installer to connect my Road Scout detection system?
The Road Scout was designed to make your driving experience enjoyable, so installation is simple. Refer to the the BILT app or use the quick start guide inside the Road Scout package to set-up your new driver awareness device.
Is the Road Scout Radar Detector illegal to use?
With the exception of Virginia and Washington D.C., radar detectors are legal in passenger cars throughout the United States
Is the Road Scout 50% Radar and 50% Dash Cam?
The Road Scout is designed with the most accurate radar/laser detection technology integrated with a HD dash cam to capture the unexpected. This intelligent and high performance driver awareness system detects red light camera, speed camera and live law enforcement locations in real time and records the road ahead, which can be used for insurance claims or accidents.
Do I need the app to work with the Road Scout?
No, you do not need to open the iRadar and Drive HD apps to operate Road Scout.
Can I just drive with the radar detector and not use the dash cam or vice versa?
This compact threat detection system was designed to give you layers of protection. Combining both radar/laser technology with the dash cam video allows drivers to drive with confidence. However, drivers can mute the dash cam portion of the system.
What is the Road Scout Dash Cam's field of View?
The field of view has a 154° diagonal viewing angle.
What is the image quality of the Road Scout Dash Cam?
The Road Scout Dash Cam delivers high definition FHD 1920x1080p and 30fps with an enhanced resolution for day or night driving.

How often will I receive software updates?

How often is the alert database updated for red light camera, speed camera and live law enforcement locations?
The Defender Database is typically updated weekly. When connected to a Wi-Fi hotspot, Road Scout will automatically notify you when a database is available.

Does the dash cam portion of the Road Scout have continuous looping?
Yes. The 2-in-1 Road Scout is both a radar detector and dash cam which continuously records the road ahead and easily plays back any event that occurs in front of your vehicle.
What is the difference between the two apps - iRadar and Drive HD?
The Drive HD app allows you to view, edit and download your videos wirelessly. The Road Scout incorporates its own Wi-Fi source to stream video directly to your phone, save, edit and share right from your car.
When the Road Scout is connected to the the iRadar app, drivers can share and receive alerts - red light cameras, speed cameras, live law enforcement and other threats - in real time.
What kind of Micro SD Card can be used with Road Scout and M1?
“Class 10” High Endurance cards or better
Due to constant video recording, we recommend “Class 10” High Endurance cards or better from reputable brands (examples: SanDisk, Western Digital)
Road Scout and M1 can use up to 32GB cards
(For the tech-savvy only: larger than 32GB cards can be used in Road Scout if they are formatted with FAT32)
16GB cards are included with Road Scout and M1
Importantly: This should more than enough space due to the cameras use of Continuous Loop Recording (for details about this, see below).
What Is Continuous Loop Recording?
Footage is stored in 1, 2, 3 or 5-minute clips. When the memory card fills up, the camera automatically overwrites the oldest clips replacing them with new ones. If you do not want a clip to be overwritten, press the Emergency Recording button (hold MARK on Road Scout) and the clip will be protected. Emergency Recordings are also automatically protected if an impact is detected. The stock 16GB card will hold 160 one-minute emergency recordings.

8GB = 80 minutes (1 hour, 20 minutes)
16GB = 160 minutes (2 hours, 40 minutes)
