Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not a "work" radio. I purchased this radio and installed in my work truck. I sent it back for warranty repair once already and now am having the same problem (display won't show any characters, only backlight). I have talked to a CB radio shop and they said too much vibration is likely the cause. When I sent it back the 1st time I bought a 29 classic as a temporary replacement and it has worked fine in the truck. It costs $30.00 to ship back to the factory so this is going to cost me $60.00 to repair a $99.00 ($129.00 with $30.00 rebate) radio. Not happy with this at all.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great radio I just had my cobra 29 lx lcd professionally installed on my FORD CROWN VICTORIA POLICE INTERCEPTOR on my glove box on the outside. The radio is too big to be installed under my dash, unless of course, tearing away my vital electronics on my panther. You have to understand when a police interceptor is retired from the fleet, all electronics are removed,IE, lightbar, radio and siren but the wiring is still alive and tempering with the live wiring might cause serious damage to the electrical system. The radio is reachable and I am able to

I have bought two if the new style 29's... But my second one, the LCD display is placed low so they elements of the display are hidden. IE bottom of channel and wx info. Is this fixable?

You could try restoring default settings in the menu by tapping once on the Big knob then turn it clockwise until you see "system setup", Tap it again to select that option, then turn it clockwise to "restore defaults", select yes and Tap it again to apply the changes. The radio will shut off and restart. Should the problem continue, please contact our Customer Care Group at 773 889 3087 for warranty service. I am finding thatthe cobra antenn warning comes on from time to time. I bought this radio new. Never touched the inside but it seems to have issue with 2.1 SWR. I heard of a bulletin for the 29lx antenna potentiometer adjustment but could no find it.

Using 102" steel whip antennas. Of what significance or difference is length of coax; 18' verses 20'? Also using 50' on same as base antenna

Asked by: Old Teaberry
Based on CB antenna frequency wavelength, the standard (RG-58) coax length on a single antenna is 18'. Two more feet should not make much difference. However, installations requiring over 20 feet of cable, a different impedance, (low loss coax RG8) is recommended. I just purchased this unit at a flying j truck stop last night with a firestick 4 ft antenna with adjustable end and the shielded copper wire to connect the two. Can hear others on rd ok, but when I Mic up is says antenna warning. What should I do?

Asked by: boman
Typically it indicates the Antenna (SWR) tuning needs to be adjusted. Luckily this radio has a built-in SWR meter that allows the user to check antenna tuning. I need to purchase the temporary mobile operation cigarette lighter adapter for my 29LX, but do not see it listed on your website for purchase. It is available and if so, where?

Asked by: mccaber
Please note, there isn't one available from Cobra. However, you may use any 12VDC, 2A plug. It MUST be at least 2Amps or higher but definitely not lower 2A. My cb when I go to transmit says cb antenna issue and idk what to do

Asked by: Boydo13
It indicates your CB antenna needs to be calibrated. I would recommend checking the SWR of the antenna using the built in SWR meter on your radio. See instructions at the link below.
