What Firmware is on My Device?
Your Cobra radar detector can display the currently installed software version. You may find the software version number by powering on the detector, entering the detector menu, and navigating to System Info. Alternately, connect your detector directly to a computer using the supplied USB cable. When the detector is connected to a computer, the detector display will show the firmware version.
If the version number shown in the table above is higher than the number displayed on your device, an update is available for your device. Proceed to the instructions below.
Download and Install Updates
Windows tool compatible with OS: 8, 10, and 11
Mac tools compatible with macOS: 11+
Updater tool instructions:
- Save the file
- Extract (unzip) the file
- Run (double click on Cobra_RAD_Series_Update_Installer) to install onto your PC and follow the InstallShield Wizard instructions. A desktop icon (Cobra_RAD_Series_Update_Installer) will be created on your desktop.
- To update the firmware, connect RAD unit to your PC using a standard USB-A to USB-micro cable or USB-C cable for select units.
- Start Cobra RAD unit update.
- The software will notify you if your RAD unit is up to date. If an update is available the software update button will turn green.
- To install the new firmware, click the green software update button. After the installation is complete, you will receive a pop-up windows indicating your RAD unit is up to date.
