Not bad!

"I originally purchased, a 480I ended up, returning it very painless other than it cost me 20 bucks. A lot of the newer cars, 2025 accessory outlets do not provide the voltage required. I kept getting low voltage then it would shut down. Also, it has a cigarette adapter. My car does not have a cigarette lighter. Which requires you to have additional expenses at the same time I bought mine. They came out where they 490 Eye that appears to be more functional with the newer cars. I’m no longer getting a low voltage warning. There’s much better Radar detectors out there for the sport enthusiast but for everyday driving I think you will be very satisfied. My only request would be if you’re coming out with a new model or upgraded model of the previous version at least give us a choice of which one we want, especially with the newer vehicles the 480I was definitely out of date."

Extremely Disappointing

"I bought my 480i about a month ago from walmart while shopping for radar detectors, after seeing all the good reviews about this one. If i wasn’t just out of my 30 days i would 100% return it. After suspecting that it was missing alerts i decided to invest in a Uniden R8 and found that it was in fact missing most alerts for cops that were directly infront of me and my Uniden radar was signaling strongly to. I also ran into an issue with mine where it would get stuck on a false Ka alert showing full signal strength and not stop until i unplugged it in order to reset it. Overall i had higher expectations and not a single one was met."

Seems to freeze

"Seems to freeze up on th KA Band. It'll alert full bars and never seem to to go away and just stay fully alerted. The only way to get the full bars off is to reset it with a power cycle."

Not as good as I expected

"I bought this to replace my old Uniden. My expectations were very high after reading reviews. Functionally seems to work great. As far as distance it receives the radar is lacking pretty much doesn’t go off until right on radar. Example going into a town that uses radar, will not go off until you can see the sign and are only about 50yds out."

Cobra RAD 480i detector

"I haven't used a radar detector for a while now because there were more detectors that required a subscription and finally the software just deleted itself. With this 480i I am now able to get updated software to operate and more options to keep muted sounds out of the car. I love this detector !!"

"Meh, false alerts allllll the time. It’s good at picking up Ka(mostly cops) from a fair distance, but you have to basically ignore it every other time, since 90% of alerts aren’t anything at all."
