LMR, or Land Mobile Radio, is a set of frequencies dedicated to business use by the FCC. Requires a business to obtain an FCC license.
PX650 operates on unlicensed FRS frequencies. Performa series operates on licensed LMR UHF frequencies.
Cobra Performa series radios require an FCC license for LMR frequencies to operate.
Cobra Performa radios are compatible with other UHF LMR radios between 450-470MHz. Confirm radios are programmed to the same frequency and privacy code.
Cobra provides radio programming software for this purpose. You can also use our on-radio advanced programming menu. For help, access the support knowledgebase or Performa manual.
Yes, as long as your business license is for the default Performa frequencies, you can use the radio out of the box! Cobra Performa radios are pre-programmed to the same channels as other radios on the market.
No, Performa is a licensed LMR UHF radio. PX650 is an FRS radio and is not compatible with the Performa series.
Yes, your Performa radio can connect to your LMR repeater. You must program your radio to the repeater channels through our Radio Programming Software. Please confirm you also have an FCC license for repeater use.
Performa radios can charge in our single dock charger, 6-unit dock charger, and by directly connecting a USB-C cable to the radio. You can also charge spare batteries separately in the dock chargers.
