Rated 4 out of 5 by from Not real thrilled with the 830 I bought the 810 for driving a truck. I haul fuel and see alot of things. It started messing up and video was getting corrupted and hard to view. Not sure if this was a one unit thing or not. Loop would only work from 15 seconds to 50 seconds when I did not have it on that setting. No matter what I did, (set to default, lower res, etc) still the same. I contacted Cobra, although it took a day or to between communications they recommended that I ship to the Chicago location. So I did. Few days later I received a new 830. Although I like the GPS, the 810 had a fish eye look so you can see more of your surroundings. There are mirrors on the truck hood that you can see other vehicles drive up in the video. The 830 does not have a fish eye look, and if I point to low you cant see signal lights or other important objects. I did compare the 2 videos side by side and the 830 looks zoomed in. No option to change a setting. This is my biggest complaint of the 830. The photo that was added both cameras are in the exact same spot. Left is the CDR-830. Right is the CDR-810. The left you can barely see the bug shield etc. The right is same view but you can see way more. 10 degrees gonna make that much difference? the 830 looks zoomed in.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Don't buy! I bought this product about four months ago and the video quality is horrible. 1. The product is unable to handle the heat from direct sun light. 2. When using 1080 mode the video sometimes splits with the top part of the screen on the bottom and the bottom part on top, especially when its hot outside. 3. The camera focuses on the dings on my wind shield and not on the cars in front of me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this unit Bought this model two weeks back and was impressed with the size, the screen, ease of use and setting the options. However I did have the split screen problem with my first unit, but Jorge at Cobra was most helpful in answering my questions and getting me a replacement for the defective unit. Kudos to Cobra, their support staff and products.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from needs firmware/software update I have the same problem...video is split with top half of picture at bottom of screen. In addition, the dash cam player shows speed much lower than actual. Not much point in having GPS camera if the displayed speed is wrong. Was told it was a software issue, but so far no fix.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Cannot handle normal interior heat My CDR 830 requires the ac to be full blast aimed at unit. The heat apparently causes the unit to lose horizontal control splitting the screen. We are not talking extreme heat. It happens when outside temps hit 75 degrees. This unit should be recalled. Software does not work on a Mac Computer

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor user manual, not user friendly I found the user manual to be lacking. The instructions should be a little more exacting and were not detailed enough. It has icons on the screen that I have no idea what they mean and the manual doesn't explain them. It took me too long to figure out how to fully operate the unit. I am fully computer literate and am no luddite. Its not a bad product now that I have figured out its intricacies, but you would be doing yourself a favor by increasing the depth of the user manual.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Awful product I purchased this product over 6 months ago at a heavy truck dealer. Within days the unit would not work if the GPS was plugged in, every morning I have to spend around 5 minutes to just turn it on because once you plug it in to the power plug it immediately shuts down. Then if you do have some video that you want to save and upload later, it's unlikely that it will even be there. I have honestly lost more video clips than I have managed to save. Now the 32mb card I purchased for the unit months ago mysteriously will no longer be recognized by the unit and cannot be formatted. Now I can't even update the firmware in it. Basically now I own a completely unusable and useless camera that I may as well toss in the trash. I have never been more frustrated with a piece of electronics in my life. Never again will I buy a Cobra product!

i have a dash cam 830 and it is saying to insert tl card? What is this? is it the sm card? if so i have and it keeps saying the same thing. Could the sm card get hot and not get good contact? any help would help.

Asked by: countryoutlaw
Sounds like there may be a problem with the camera. You could try reformatting the card or a new SD card, however if the problem continues, it will be necessary to send your unit to Cobra for service to the Chicago address on the paperwork. Cannot fast forward or go backwards when watching the video on screen or on tv with HDMI cable.  Or is this only capable only when hooked up to the computer.

Is there an app for my tablet to view videos on the SD card? Would make it easier to view instead of carrying a laptop with you in case you needed to view videos. I have Samsung galaxy tab 4 10.1...

Asked by: iomae
We are sorry but we do not offer an app. We only offer a Windows-based player. Videos are saved in AVI format, so if you can find a video player that is compatible with AVI then you should be able to view the video files. We have not tested this.
