Cobra Rides a Wave of Success at the 2014 International Miami Boat Show

February 27th, 2014 | Cobra Electronics | Chicago, IL

The Cobra Marine team traveled to Miami to spend five days warming up for boating season at the 2014 International Miami Boat Show, which took place from Feb 14-17, 2104.

The title of the opening presentation, ‘Riding the Wave of Optimism,’ is the perfect way to describe the show’s atmosphere. With more people becoming active in the boating world (more than 250 million adults reported to have boated last year), and many companies reporting an increase in recent quarter sales; the future of the boating industry is looking as bright as the 70 degree Miami weather that sunned show goers!

The sunny show outcome extended to the new line of Cobra Marine products. National Sales Manager, Ricky Johnson, explained that, “The unique features to Cobra Marine propelled us to record sales at [Miami International Boat Show]; one of the Top 5 Boat shows in the world!”

And the competition was stiff. More than 2,500 companies exhibited at the show, displaying more than 3,000 boats in addition to boating accessories and clothing.

Showed Up, SOLD OUT

Exclusive features and approachable price points laid the foundation for Cobra’s boat-show success. Cobra displayed a few of their Marine favorites in addition to introducing new products from their VHF line of handheld radios. Show-goers couldn’t get their hands-on them fast enough!

“Every retailer sold out of all our Cobra products, that were at the show... a first in show history!” said Johnson.

Industry Inspiration

As one of the largest boat shows in the world thousands are drawn to Miami to attend every year— this year the total was 94,980! The show is also a great opportunity to catch up with some of our partners and be inspired by the industry’s most prominent innovators.

Bass Pro Shops is one of the largest customers of Cobra Marine and one of the top 5 largest marine retailers in the world. Johnny Morris, Owner of Bass Pro Shops, discussing the importance of saltwater recreational fishing to America, gave one of our team’s favorite presentations (featured in picture).

If you missed us at the Miami Show, our next boat-show stop will be the Fred Hall Show at The Long Beach Convention and Entertainment Center, March 5-9th 2014. Connect with us anytime on social media using the hashtag #cobrasummer!
