The updates on this page are for the NAV ONE 5000 model only. Updates for other models can be found elsewhere on this site.
System Requirements
- PC Running Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Vista, or Windows 7.
- Mini USB Cable supplied with unit.
- AC Adapter supplied with unit.
How to Check the Software Version in your Unit
NOTE: This procedure will place the NAV ONE unit into Factory Test mode. Execution of any of the functions in this mode except as specified below may impair operation of the unit or cause loss of user data.
- Locate the MENU and POWER buttons on the top of the 5000.
- Hold down the MENU button, and while holding the MENU button down, press the POWER button until the unit turns on, then release both buttons. You should see a screen with the text "PRESS MENU KEY FOR FACTORY TEST".
- Press the MENU button briefly again. A white status bar moving from left to right should appear with the title "Loading Factory Test". Once the loading is finished, a screen with the title "QCP Version x.xx" should appear.
- Press the SOFTWARE INFO button on the screen. The various software versions should now be visible.
- Check the newest software versions listed below under "Software Updates". If a newer version is available, please continue as described below to download and install new software into your NAV ONE.
How to Apply a Software Update
Download the Software
- Click on the desired software version, listed below under "Software Updates". Please note that some updates may be incremental, meaning that you first must have the previous version installed. In this case you should first download and install the previous version.
- A window will pop up. Click on SAVE. Choose a location you will remember later and hit SAVE to download the update.
Install the Update

Double-click on the file named "NavOne 5000 Updater x.x.x.exe, which you previously downloaded and saved.

Click on Run if the Security Warning pop-up appears.

Click on Next when the NavOne 5000 Updater appears.

Accept the License Agreement and hit Next.

Prepare the unit per the Setup Instructions shown on the next screen. The NavOne should appear as a new external drive. If you are presented with a screen of choices of what to do with this new drive, simply note what letter is being used, and close the screen. If you are offered an option to scan the drive, select "Continue without scanning".

Click on Next.

Verify the the Destination Location is correct. It should be the same as the drive letter that appeared when the NAV ONE was connected to the PC. If it is not, change it to the correct drive letter.

Click on Next, then hit the Install button on the next screen.

The InstallShield Wizard will now update files on the Nav One.

When the "InstallShield Wizard Complete" screen appears, click on Finish. A text screen should appear with the complete set of instructions as shown at the beginning.

Disconnect your unit from the PC and follow any remaining instructions.

Note that updates of the Bootloader and Operating System Kernel will require the unit to be rebooted several times.
Note for Windows Vista Users: At the end of the update, you may see a screen with a message that "This program might not have installed correctly". This is not a problem, and if it occurs, select the option "This program installed correctly" to continue.

- Resolves issue where unit may freeze on boot screen.
- Resolves several Fatal Application Errors, including issues with long routes and some route recalculations.
- Corrects a text display problem in the Address Book.
- The Call History view will now update the phone number correctly when switching among incoming, outgoing and missed call tabs. Additionally, the call information now includes date, time and duration of the call
- Route Calculation "Catch-Up" - In some cases, the unit would not allow sufficient time for the user to reach a newly calculated route, resulting in additional route recalculations. This is now resolved.
- Fixed occasional missing text on END TRIP button.
- Fixed occasional problem where the END TRIP button would linger on the screen after reaching a destination or cancelling a trip.
