Software Updates for Chart Plotter MC 600Cx

From this page you can download software updates for your MC 600Cx chart plotter.  The updates are for correcting software bugs and/or to enhance the operation of your unit.

The updates on this page are ONLY for the MC 600Cx.  If you have the MC 600Ci, click <HERE>.

NOTES

To update the software, your chart plotter must be powered-up at the computer.  If you have a laptop computer, then the update can be applied in your boat.  If you do not have a laptop, then you will need a power supply to power the chart plotter at the computer.  The power supply should be between 12 to 15 volts DC, with a minimum output of 600mA (0.6A).

You will also need a mini-USB cable to connect the chart plotter to the computer.  The mini-USB cable will have a regular "Type A" connector on one end for connecting to a PC and a "Mini Type B" connector on the other end for connecting to the chart plotter.  This cable is commonly used with newer digital cameras and can be obtained from local retailers.  The mini-USB port is located on the back of the chart plotter, beneath a rubber plug.

  1. Press the PAGE button to get to the SYSTEM page.

  2. Highlight "ABOUT" and press ENTER.

  3. Check the software version, which should be on the second line right after the letter 'V'.  The latest software version is 1.08.03A

DEVICE DRIVER TROUBLESHOOTING

If you were unable to install the device driver and no window pops up in step 3 of the device driver installation procedure:

  1. First make sure that in step 2, the chart plotter beeps when power is connected.  You should first connect the USB cable, then the power cable.  If the chart plotter does not beep:

    1. There may be a power problem.  Disconnect the USB cable and try to turn on the chart plotter.  If it does not turn on then the chart plotter is not getting power.

    2. There may be a USB problem.  Try connecting the chart plotter to a different USB port on the computer.  You could also try a different USB cable, in case the one you have is bad.

  2. If the chart plotter beeps but you do not get a popup window:

    1. Disconnect all cables from the chart plotter.

    2. Close all windows on the computer.

    3. Connect the USB cable to the chart plotter.

    4. Connect the power cable to the chart plotter.  It should beep.

    5. Right-click (not left-click) on My Computer.  If you do not see a My Computer icon on your desktop, then click on Start and then right-click on My Computer.

    6. Choose Properties.

    7. Click on the Hardware tab.

    8. Click on Device Manager.

    9. You should see a yellow warning icon which is labeled USB device.

    10. Right-click on USB Device and choose Uninstall.

    11. After it has been uninstalled, disconnect all cables from the chart plotter.

    12. You can now go back to the device driver installation.  Start at step number 1.
