Cobra Electronics Launches Most Powerful Line of Lithium Ion Two-Way Radios Available
Enhanced Line of Products to be Previewed at 2008 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas
LAS VEGAS (January 4, 2008) — Cobra Electronics (NASDAQ: COBR) today announced the launch of the world's most powerful extended range lithium ion GMRS two-way radios. In 2008, the microTALK® line will feature three new additions including the LI 7200, which was selected by the Consumer Electronics Association as an Innovations 2008 Design and Engineering Award honoree. The ultra-compact, high-powered series provides the range of larger radios at a fraction of the size.
The 2008 microTALK line features the sleek, modern look that made the 2007 line so popular, along with the lithium ion technology first introduced in Cobra radios in 2006. The enhanced radios offer the maximum power allowed by law and the highest capacity batteries in the industry, as well as ranges of up to 27 miles and up to 3,124 privacy combinations. They also offer other Cobra mainstays including VibrAlert® for silent alerts and SCAN for quick conversation location. The radios’ features, design and price make everyday communication easier whether in the field, at the worksite, on the ski slopes or at the amusement park.
Other features Cobra users have come to expect include VOX Hands Free Operation, which recognizes when a person is speaking and automatically begins transmitting; auto squelch; 10-channel memory; selectable high, medium or low power options; and 10 National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration weather and hazard alert information channels.
The radios are available in a value pack configuration which includes two radios, a desktop charger and rechargeable batteries. The new radios will be sold at major retailers in January 2008. The LI 7200 will be available at an MSRP of $89.95, the LI 6700 will be available at an MSRP of $79.95, and the LI 5600 will be available at an MSRP of $69.95.
Beyond the new 2008 microTALK® products, Cobra offers a complete line of two-way radios in a wide variety of ranges and price points, starting at an MSRP of $39.95.
Along with its two-way radios, Cobra’s 2008 mobile navigation, radar detection, citizens band and marine products will be on display at the 2008 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, January 7-10 in the Central Hall, booth # 9841, at the Las Vegas
Convention Center. The company’s new radar, mobile navigation and two-way radio products will also be on display at CES Unveiled on January 5 in the Sands Expo and Convention Center.
